shards of broken glassShards of Broken Glass

i think of the past, of the dance i didn't go to,
where kids danced and smiled and drank
and left behind in the parking lot from beer bottles
shards of broken glass

i hear of stories where relationships turn bad
because of cheating or arguements, locked inside a bathroom
there is a mirror and a girl and in the sink
shards of broken glass

i wonder if there will ever be someone to love me
and if she would walk into my life, to get to her, i would walk over
shards of broken glass

and everyone's life at some point, can be traced to a moment
where in a parking lot, in a bathroom, or on a floor

In the frozen sea of sand, a young boy travels far
with callous gripping hands, that never leave a scar
trudging through the dark, he wanders aimlessly
a prisoner of fate, waiting to be free

Those flashing neon lights, blinding they may be
enough to show his face, but not enough to see
what's going through his mind, ever watching on
he knows that you care, but that you won't care long

Nomad, why do you travel sad? Havn't you had all that you can take of this?
Lone man, just do what you can, to one day taste that woman's kiss

That lullaby falls softly on those open ears
a melody so soothing, drying up the tears
